Overview

Providing Compassionate and Accessible For Migrants And Refugees

Brief

The MH-CLSR program, delivered by STARTTS (Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors) and New Horizons provides psychological support to people from refugee backgrounds and people seeking asylum. STARTTS asked us to create video training for staff and workers, to better understand the importance of trauma-informed, culturally appropriate care.

Solution

Instead of only telling workers how to approach trauma-informed care, we decided to develop emotive stories inspired by the real experiences of refugees, to show and engage workers in the experiences of the people they may provide services to, alongside the voices of staff experienced in this space. Evocative hand illustrated frames were minimally animated and accompanied by poignant music and voice over.

Global Award

In 2024 Dalal’s story was re-edited and submitted to the World Health Organization’s Health For All Film Festival, where it won the ‘Migrant and Refugee Health’ category.
