Promoting Support Services For Cancer Council NSW

Brief

Cancer Council NSW was looking to develop an impactful video to promote the 13 11 20 hotline, featuring their community ambassadors answering questions in a ‘You Can’t Ask That’ style.

Solution

We worked with CCNSW to develop an interview guide covering a wide range of topics often thought of by people facing cancer, such as impact on family and friends, treatment side effects and self-esteem. We filmed each ambassador answering these questions down the barrel of the camera, creating a powerful audience connection. Given the sensitive subject matter, it was important to ensure a safe environment on set – we did so by having the option for participants to opt out of any question, as well as opening up communication before the shoot to chat through any potential concerns. To create a tone of empowerment and hope, we also included natural, ‘off-the-cuff’ moments in the video, building relatability and engagement for viewers.
