Making the New Aged Care Act Clear and Accessible
Brief
The Department of Health and Aged Care wanted to create an engaging animation suite to support a national conversation about the new Aged Care Act. The goal was to promote understanding of how the Act improves rights, safety, access, and quality of care, while clearly showing how its different parts fit together. The campaign needed to be simple, accessible, and resonant with older Australians, their families, and service providers.
Solution
We designed a central animated visual in the shape of a house, symbolising the foundations and structure of the new system. This unifying visual allowed us to show at a glance how the Act’s components connect, while guiding viewers through six key areas: high quality care, easier access, more choice and transparency, a stronger workforce, strengthened rights and protections, and rules and regulations.
The animations paired clear narration with approachable design, balancing simplicity and authority. On-screen text and intuitive motion reinforced key reforms, while inclusive illustration styles ensured the content was relatable across diverse audiences.
Calls to action were embedded throughout to drive engagement, including prompts to explore the interactive house visual, learn more on My Aged Care, and understand what the Act means on the Department’s website. The result was a set of animations that communicated complex reforms with clarity, built trust, and empowered Australians to engage with the aged care system as it evolves from 1 July 2025.
