Overview

Supporting Children Living With Disabilities

Brief

The Department of Education is developing two educational videos designed to inform students with disabilities about their rights under the Disability Standards for Education. These videos will be targeted to primary and secondary students, ensuring the content is age-appropriate and engaging for diverse learning needs.

Solution

We started by scripting two video concepts: one for primary students and the other for secondary students, incorporating dialogue to craft a compelling and relatable experience for young viewers.

Next, we developed style frames and storyboards, collaborating with the client to finalise an accessible style. The client conducted user testing with students with disabilities, leading to storyboard revisions based on their feedback.

We then recorded voice overs and animated the scenes, focusing on syncing mouth movements and character interactions. After client approval, we worked with an Auslan translator to ensure accessibility for all audiences. This process resulted in two engaging videos that help to inform students with disabilities about the disability standards of education.
