How Stories Spark Belonging in Multicultural Australia
Brief
Multicultural NSW partnered with us to bring The New Point Magazine to life through video storytelling. The objective was to spark connection across multicultural Australia by showing how stories can weave threads of belonging, challenge assumptions, and celebrate individuality. The videos needed to resonate with young people in particular, reflecting their lived experiences while amplifying universal themes such as family, resilience, and identity. At the same time, the content had to model positive conversations about sensitive issues, supporting Multicultural NSW’s broader mission of inclusion and social cohesion.
Solution
We collaborated with The New Point Magazine editorial team to produce the ViewPoint video series, an ongoing suite of stories exploring culture, identity, and community from youth perspectives. Each video tackled a distinct theme, from tradition and car culture to gaming, using a mix of interviews and authentic visual storytelling to surface insights that felt both culturally specific and widely relatable.
Our approach centred on giving young contributors a platform to tell their own stories, supported by mentoring programs like StoryCasters. This not only built editorial depth but also ensured the content reflected a genuine diversity of voices. By balancing intimacy with universality, the videos showed how personal stories can build bridges across communities and highlight what unites us.
The result was a vibrant series that engaged audiences across digital platforms, strengthened The New Point Magazine as a youth-led storytelling hub, and amplified the impact of Multicultural NSW’s COMPACT Program, which has empowered more than 80,000 young people to become changemakers for community harmony.
