UNSW Genius

Brief

UNSW approached Laundry Lane to help bring its Genius Series to life, a suite of short videos highlighting the university’s most fascinating research and the people behind it. The goal was to make complex ideas feel accessible and inspiring, distilling big academic concepts into bite-sized, social-ready stories that could connect with broader audiences.

The videos needed to showcase UNSW’s innovation and thought leadership while staying engaging, clear and suited to modern viewing habits across platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube Shorts.

Solution

We created a dynamic series of micro-learning videos that combined cinematic visuals with direct-to-camera storytelling. Each episode featured a researcher explaining their work in a way that was simple, human and visually engaging  from groundbreaking materials science to new frontiers in health.

The vertical, social-first format was key. Every video was edited for quick viewing and high retention, using clean motion graphics and captions to reinforce key messages. The result was a collection of short films that brought UNSW’s research to new audiences, showing that genius isn’t about complexity, it’s about clarity, creativity and connection.
