Bringing Consumer Law to Life for the ACCC

Brief

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission needed Australians to understand their consumer rights well enough to use them, not just know they exist. Consumer law can feel complex and removed from everyday decisions, and the campaign had to cut through on digital platforms where audiences are time-poor and often watching without sound.

Solution

Laundry Lane grounded the campaign in familiar, everyday moments, a shopping trip, a big purchase, so consumer rights felt like something people carry with them rather than something they only think about when things go wrong. The visual style drew on high-end product photography, using clean coloured backgrounds and considered lighting to bring everyday objects into sharp focus, paired with bold kinetic typography and stop-motion style animation designed to stop the scroll in the first few seconds.

Plain-English messaging and intuitive motion design kept the content accessible across audiences with different levels of consumer law knowledge, from time-poor everyday shoppers to first-time renters and buyers still building their confidence. A consistent music track and everyday sound cues, a cash register, a refrigerator hum, tied the whole campaign together across video, static and audio formats.
