Purpose
Laundry Lane is committed to conducting business ethically, transparently, and in a manner that supports positive social and environmental outcomes. This policy outlines Laundry Lane’s approach to lobbying, advocacy, public policy engagement, industry participation, and political contributions. It is intended to ensure any influence activities are aligned with Laundry Lane’s values, sustainability commitments, and purpose. The policy has been developed to align with the Government Affairs and Collective Action (GACA) requirements of the B Lab Standards.

Scope
This policy applies to:

  • Laundry Lane’s owners, directors, employees, contractors, and representatives.
  • Any advocacy, lobbying, public policy engagement, industry representation, or political activity undertaken on behalf of Laundry Lane.
  • Memberships, partnerships, and participation in industry associations, trade groups, business networks, and other intermediary organisations.

Our Position on Lobbying
Laundry Lane does not currently undertake direct lobbying of governments, elected representatives, political parties, or regulatory agencies. Where Laundry Lane engages in public policy discussions, industry consultations, advocacy campaigns, or membership organisations that seek to influence public policy, it will do so responsibly, transparently, and in accordance with this policy.

Principles for Responsible Lobbying
Should Laundry Lane engage in lobbying or advocacy activities, it will:

  • Support outcomes that contribute positively to society and the environment.
  • Ensure positions are informed by credible evidence, industry knowledge, and, where relevant, scientific research.
  • Act honestly, transparently, and in good faith.
  • Avoid lobbying that undermines environmental protection, climate action, human rights, community wellbeing, or ethical business practices.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ensure advocacy activities are consistent with Laundry Lane’s sustainability objectives and stated values.

Political Contributions
Laundry Lane does not make financial or in-kind contributions to political parties, political candidates, or elected representatives. Should Laundry Lane ever consider making a political contribution, the contribution must be approved by the Managing Director, comply with all relevant legal requirements, and be publicly disclosed through Laundry Lane’s annual impact reporting or website.

Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption
Laundry Lane maintains a zero-tolerance approach to bribery and corruption. The business will not offer, solicit, or accept bribes, provide improper gifts, benefits, or payments to influence decision-making, or seek favourable treatment through unethical means. All personnel are expected to act with integrity and avoid any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest.

Industry Associations and Intermediary Organisations
Laundry Lane may participate in industry associations, business groups, community organisations, sustainability initiatives, and other intermediary organisations where such participation supports positive social and environmental outcomes. Where an intermediary organisation adopts lobbying positions that conflict with this policy, Laundry Lane will seek to understand the organisation’s position, communicate Laundry Lane’s own position where appropriate, encourage alignment with responsible business practices, and periodically review ongoing membership. Laundry Lane’s “red line” is participation in activities that materially conflict with its commitments to environmental responsibility, ethical conduct, or positive social impact. In such circumstances, Laundry Lane may reconsider or discontinue its involvement with the organisation.

Governance and Accountability
The Managing Director is accountable for approving and reviewing this policy, monitoring compliance with this policy, approving any lobbying or advocacy activity undertaken in the name of Laundry Lane, and ensuring advocacy activities remain aligned with the company’s purpose and values. This policy will be reviewed at least annually.

Policy Implementation
Laundry Lane embeds this policy by considering responsible lobbying principles when participating in industry forums, consultations, or advocacy activities, reviewing memberships of relevant industry and business associations annually, assessing advocacy opportunities against the principles outlined in this policy, and maintaining records of any lobbying, advocacy, or public policy engagement activities undertaken on behalf of the business.

Risk Management and Compliance
Laundry Lane manages lobbying-related risks by reviewing proposed advocacy activities before participation, monitoring alignment between advocacy activities and company values, reviewing memberships and partnerships that may involve lobbying activity, investigating any concerns raised regarding lobbying, advocacy, bribery, or corruption, and taking corrective action where non-compliance is identified.

Reporting Concerns
Stakeholders who have concerns regarding Laundry Lane’s lobbying practices, advocacy activities, political contributions, or business conduct may contact info@laundrylane.com. All concerns will be reviewed fairly, confidentially, and in a timely manner.

Public Disclosure
Laundry Lane will publish this policy on its website and make it available to stakeholders. Where applicable, Laundry Lane will publicly disclose any material lobbying activities, any financial or in-kind political contributions, and any significant positions taken through public policy engagement or intermediary organisations.
