Overview

Championing Belonging in Mental Health Care

Brief

The Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI) approached Laundry Lane to develop a series of videos for a new web-based resource supporting child and adolescent mental health services (CAMS). The goal was to build clinicians’ confidence when engaging with gender and sexual diversity, using video to bring written content to life through personal, lived experience. The videos would support a broader effort to create safer, more inclusive environments for LGBTIQ+ young people and their families.

Solution

We proposed a four-part video series featuring real voices, including clinicians, young people and a parent, speaking to different themes such as defining LGBTIQ+, the importance of pronouns, creating safety through allyship, and the role of parents and carers. Filmed at the Campbelltown CAMS clinic and in nearby outdoor locations, the interviews would highlight both clinical perspectives and personal stories, helping to ground the educational content in authenticity.

Each 2 to 3 minute video would follow an interview-led format with warm, candid visuals and gentle background music. Subtle motion graphics and iconography, based on ACI’s artwork, would be used to reinforce key messages. Closed captions and stills from the shoot would support accessibility and use across multiple platforms. The final product would be a compassionate and informative resource, designed to foster empathy, build understanding and support inclusive mental health practice.
