Launching Voices of Community Housing

Brief

Ahead of the 2027 NSW State Election, the Community Housing Industry Association NSW (CHIA NSW) wanted to put a human face on what community housing actually means. Not policy, not numbers, but real people whose lives changed once they had a safe, stable place to live.

Solution

Laundry Lane built the Voices of Community Housing video around nine community housing residents, filmed mostly in their own homes so the space itself could do some of the storytelling too, the photos on the wall, the garden they’ve grown, the small signs of a home lived in rather than just occupied. Interviews were led by open, unscripted questions so residents could tell their stories their own way, with campaign messaging woven in through natural conversation rather than handed to them as lines.

As one resident says in the film: “When I got shown this home, I cried. It was something I really needed, a place to call home.” Another reflects: “There should be no reason why other people can’t have the same opportunity as I’ve had to have a home that’s developed them as much as it’s developed me.”
