Djirra
Fusing Personal Stories and Animation
Brief
Djirra is an Aboriginal community controlled organisation that provides culturally safe wrap around support services to Aboriginal people, primarily women, who are experiencing, family violence and/or sexual assault in Victoria. Djirra was granted funding from the eSafety commissioner as part of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander Technological-Facilitated Abuse Resources program. The objective of the project is to increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people’s community engagement on technology facilitated abuse and to facilitate, deliver and publish a range of culturally appropriate and place-based training and resources, to support women experiencing technological- facilitated abuse as an extension of domestic and family violence.
Solution
A series of three character-driven narratives promoting awareness of cyber-based domestic abuse in First Nations communities. The target audience were young women in their twenties, and the stories centred on three case studies of fictional personalities and their experiences with cyber abuse. The videos have received overwhelmingly positives responses and are being distributed throughout the community.
