Sexual Health Animations for PALM Workers

Brief

NSW Health needed to expand its sexual and reproductive health resources for workers on the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme. The animations had to sit alongside existing factsheets and make key health information genuinely easier to understand, supporting workers to stay safe, access care and feel confident navigating the Australian health system.

Solution

Laundry Lane produced four short animations on core sexual and reproductive health topics, each delivered in English, Fijian, Tongan, Samoan and Bislama. The visual approach blends two worlds: soft, flowing patterns that echo Pacific textiles and landscapes for a sense of home and comfort, alongside clean icons and structured clinical scenes that reflect the clarity and trustworthiness of the Australian health system. Characters were designed with dignity and familiarity in mind, so PALM workers could see themselves in the story without caricature or stereotype.

Animation pacing was kept steady and calm rather than urgent, with smooth transitions that let each scene land one clear message at a time, whether that’s understanding blood-borne viruses, knowing the steps in a testing process, or what to expect from a conversation with a healthcare worker.
