Animation

We animate for health, government, NFP and impact organisations.

That covers straightforward explainer and campaign content, and the harder stories that need a different kind of care.

Our animation capability spans 2D, 3D, motion graphics and mixed media, built for organisations who need clarity, sensitivity and trust in equal measure. We work with clients who are communicating something genuinely difficult to get right: a process no one can film, an experience that isn’t safe to show on camera, or a message that needs to land with a community in their own language.

That shows up in how we work as much as what we make. Confidentiality is built into every stage of production, not bolted on at the end. Co-design with the communities and research groups our clients are working with shapes character design, casting and tone from the start. And everything we build can be translated and localised, so the same piece of animation reaches an audience in the language and voice that actually lands for them.

What we do

2D animation

Character-led animation for explainer content, campaigns and training. This is the format that carries most of our sensitive storytelling work, where a contributor’s story needs a human face without using their real one.

3D animation

Full environments and world-building for the things a camera can’t show: inside a hospital, inside the body, inside a system. Our 3D work is where we’ve been able to visualise processes and care pathways that would otherwise stay invisible to the people trying to understand them.

Motion graphics

Data, process and policy explained through movement and design, built for audiences who need to follow a system or a set of numbers without getting lost in either.

Mixed media

Animation combined with live-action footage, used when part of a story can be filmed safely and part can’t. This lets us protect what needs protecting without losing the parts of a story that benefit from being real.

Our approach

Some communications challenges can’t be solved with a camera. A story needs to be told without identifying the person at the centre of it. A message needs to reach a community in their own language, not just with subtitles. A process needs to be understood, not just described.

We treat animation as a way to solve those problems, not just a visual style. Confidentiality, consent and cultural accuracy shape the creative decisions from the start, alongside the communities and research groups our clients are working with. The result is content that holds up to scrutiny from the people it represents, not just the people who commissioned it.

Our process

01 Brief and scope

We get to know the organisation, the audience, and what the content actually needs to achieve, then plan the scope, timeline and budget around that.

02 Research and development

Where the brief allows for it, we go deeper before we build anything. That’s either working with the client’s own marketing insights and existing research, or running new research to test and validate ideas before they go into production.

03 Script

Where a real person’s story is involved, they shape the script with us and review it. Where a community’s experience is being represented, that community or the research group representing them helps shape the details.

04 Storyboards

We put the story down on paper first, in sequence, before anything gets animated, so everyone agrees on the shape of it before production starts.

05 Design

Character, world and style development across 2D, 3D, illustration and photography, built to suit the story rather than a default house style.

06 Voiceover

Casting and direction in the right language and dialect for the audience the piece is being made for.

07 Translation and localisation

Where a piece needs to reach an audience in more than one language, we build that in as part of production, not as a separate job tacked on afterwards.

08 Animation and sound

Storyboards, design and voice come together on screen, with music and sound added to match

09 Review

The client, and where it’s relevant, the contributor or community, sees it before anything goes out, and files are delivered to whatever spec the client needs.
